Sure, it may technically be spring, but winter lasts well into April (sometimes even May...) in the Rockies, which means it’s not too late to book yourself a snowy getaway in Park City, Utah. I recently did just that and stayed at the swanky Pendry Park City in Canyons Village. It’s the perfect home base for a long weekend full of winter sports, alfresco drinks, and cozying up by the fire. Go ahead and book your flight, then copy my exact itinerary below.

Stay

  • Pendry Park City: Most mountain hotels and resorts have a distinct Western feel…cowhide rugs, saloon doors, mounted deer heads, statues of bear, etc. This is all fine and nice and on brand but very expected—which is why the Pendry stood out to me so much. The vibe isn’t traditional like that at all and instead feels very urban-chic-meets-modern-ski-lodge. I loved it. Everything from the lobby bar to the spacious rooms are beautiful and super well designed, the service is 10/10, and the location is unbeatable. I’ve been to Park City a few times now, and the Pendry is by far my favorite place I’ve stayed.

Eat and Drink

  • Kita: Sushi? In the mountains? Yep, you’re doing it. To be fair, Kita has an extensive Japanese-inspired menu, but the rolls and sashimi are so fresh and yummy that you need to try a few different options, at least for an app. The Wagyu steak is also delish; same with the black miso cod.
  • Dos Olas: Hands down the best spicy marg in Park City (maybe even Utah honestly). Also the tacos—especially the tinga de pollo—are fantastic. Ditto the elote corn on the cob.

Play

  • Skiing and snowboarding: Park City is one of my favorite mountain resorts. There is so much terrain (the most in North America, FYI), so you’re pretty much guaranteed to find a few runs you love—whether you’re an expert hitting the trees or a newb sticking to groomers. The Pendry is conveniently located at the base of the Canyon’s Village area of the resort and is a one-minute walk (literally) to multiple lifts and the gondola so you quickly get you up the mountain. From there, you can ride over to the Park City side but no matter what—make sure you stop at Lookout Cabin at mid-mountain for lunch. The food is great and the view is epic.
  • Après: After your last run of the day, it’s time for après (bougie ski lingo for happy hour) at either the Après Pendry or The Pool House for some snacks and a glass of wine. Après Pendry is a part of the Pendry lobby, where you’ll find ample indoor/outdoor fireside seating and an excellent wine list (they also have a great piano player on the weekends). If you want more of a party vibe, head upstairs to The Pool House—a scene-y rooftop spot where Moët flows.

  • Spa and shopping: Even if winter sports aren’t your thing, there’s still plenty to do in Park City. I recommend stopping by the Spa Pendry for a massage or facial (I tried the High Altitude Glow Facial, which my skin desperately needed after spending a few days in the bone-dry Utah air) or heading to downtown Park City (a quick 10-minute Uber or 20-minute bus ride away) to check out the cute shops and art galleries.
