Need something to rev up your sex life? Look no further than a sexual “road trip.” Just hop in your car, find a (very) secluded spot, and try some of these window-steaming car sex positions. “Car sex can be lots of fun. It’s a great way to strengthen your relationship because it’s different from your regular sex and just naughty enough to be extra arousing,” says licensed clinical psychotherapist Heather England, PhD, an AASECT-certified sex therapist, and licensed clinical professional counselor. “Plus, you'll share this fun secret that will bind you together.”
Car sex is great for “I-must-have-you-now” quickies, but a little prep can make it way more comfortable. “It is perfectly cool—even a vibe—to plan your sexy car times,” says AASECT-certified sex and relationship therapist DuEwa “Kaya” Spicer, MSW, LCSW, CCATP, CST. “Prepare a car sex kit so you are never without everything you need for a most pleasurable experience.” A solid sex kit has condoms, toys, wipes for clean-up, a sex blanket, lube, plus whatever else you might want to incorporate into your sexy time. (Sexy lingerie? Whipped cream? Up to you!)
Another important thing to remember: Your attire for maximum comfort and convenience. “Wear clothing for easy access and that can have you back to fully clothed in seconds,” says Spicer. This is extra important because car sex isn’t ~entirely~ legal.
“Generally, car sex is not considered a crime as long as you have a reasonable expectation of privacy, like if your car is parked in your own driveway,” says Suzannah Weiss, resident sexologist for the erotic ethical porn site FrolicMe. But you could get in big legal trouble for indecent exposure if people can see you. Remember: Those people didn’t consent to seeing you get down! “The more public your car sex is, the greater of a risk you are taking,” says Weiss. So find a safe-ish place, aka: somewhere secluded!

The Reach-Across
Recreate the glory of desperate high school groping by reaching across the seat and stroking your partner. “This is one of the simpler and lower-risk ways to have some sexy fun in the car,” says Weiss. “If you want to do this as foreplay before you get home and into bed, you can gently rub each other over your clothing. If you want to get hot and heavy right there, you can unzip or reach into each other's pants.” If someone comes near, a quick up will make you look completely innocent.

The High Rider
If you’re in a really secluded place, open the door and sit on the edge of the seat with your legs spread wide. “The penetrating partner can stand outside of the car facing them, holding onto the car's roof or handles for support,” says Megan Harrison, LMFT, a relationship and sexual wellness expert who runs Couples Candy. This position offers deep penetration and allows for intense eye contact and exploration of pleasure.”

The Bumpy Ride
"Get kinky and use the seatbelt as a restraint,” says Weiss. “One person sits in the passenger's seat or back seat with the seatbelt on and their hands tucked into the bottom strap so they can't use them, then the other gets on top of them and has their way with them.” It’s even better if the seat reclines so you can easily play with oral and edging, or full-on orgasm denial.
Road Cowgirl
“One of the best car sex positions I've tried is simply cowgirl,” says Kay Johnson, sex expert and founder of Let's Get Kinky. “It's an incredibly versatile position that can work for in-control penetration, or you can use it to grind against the other person for clitoral stimulation. It also works in small cars or big SUVs and with bigger or smaller partners.”
Car Doggie
“If you have a larger SUV or minivan, open the trunk and get on all fours, holding on to the backseats or flattening them while your partner approaches from behind,” says says Jess O’Reilly, PhD, resident sexologist at Astroglide. No tinted windows and don't want your butt exposed for all to see? “You can make makeshift curtains by placing a towel or shirt in the window,” says Johnson.
Backseat Face-sitting
“If you’re into face-sitting, head to the backseat for something a bit more acrobatic. If you’re on the receiving end, have your partner sit on the floor with their back against the seat. Be sure to move the front seats all the way forward for optimal leg room! Then, with both feet planted atop the backseat and both hands gripping the headrest for support, lower your vulva onto your lover’s face. Yes, you will start to feel it in your quads after a while, but on-the-go oral is so worth it,” says Sarah Riccio, queer sex educator and co-founder Delicto.com.
Lie Back and Take It
Yeah, you can just lean over and give (or get) oral, but for a more mutual experience, you're gonna have to move to the back. “Stretch out across the back seats and go down on one another,” says O'Reilly. If mutual masturbation is more your thing, stash some lube and/or toys in the glove compartment.
Half Blooming Lotus
“While lotus is typically practiced with two partners straddling one another simultaneously, half blooming lotus modifies the position for comfort in your car. With your partner seated with legs down in the passenger seat, wrap your legs around their waist, seated in their lap. Using fingers, dildo, or a penis, the partner on the seat can easily slip inside. It offers the highly intimate experience of face-to-face connection, while hands are free to caress the breasts, hips, butt, and thighs of your partner,” says certified sex therapist Casey Tanner, sexpeert for LELO.
